Meet the Officers
Welcome Message from our President,
Roger Taylor Russell
As the President of the Taylor Family Association (TFA), I welcome you to the TFA website. I hope you’ll consider membership in this great family research organization. If you are already a member, thank you for your on-going support! Please Log-In or Join/Register here.
So let me introduce myself. I am Roger Taylor Russell, a son of Lois Taylor, grandson of Orson Shurtliff Taylor, and great grandson of Pleasant Green Taylor & Jane Narcissus Shurtliff. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, graduated from the University of Utah, and went on to the University of Nebraska to receive my dental degree.
I served an LDS mission in Germany from 1960 to 1963. I married Kathie Belliston just before I graduated from dental school. After graduation, I immediately entered the United States Air Force as a captain, stationed at Clark Air Force Base Hospital in the Philippines. These were wonderful two years for us. We called it our two-year honeymoon. Also, our first child, Kristin Russell McQuivey, was born there. After two years, we returned home and set up a practice in Salt Lake. Two more children were born: Matthew Taylor Russell and Andrew Belliston Russell. Kathie and I were married 25 years before she passed. She was a wonderful wife and mother, but she suffered so much with an autoimmune disease. She had a liver transplant, she lost her colon — she had too many problems to mention. Two years after Kathie passed, I married Nancy Muhlestein Swaner.
I have been very active over the years in scouting and working with the young men in my church. I have been a scoutmaster 9 times, 2 of those times with inner-city troops. I was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1991. I am currently serving at the University of Utah Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. I have had this calling for the past 7 years and absolutely love serving patients there.
I recently returned from a dental humanitarian trip to Nairobi, Kenya. We were able to provide dental care to the orphans in the slums there. I have also served on other humanitarian trips to Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, and Peru. I still practice dentistry full-time and love helping those in need. My life is good.
We’d love to have you join the Association and participate with us. Please Join/Register here. If you are already a member, Please Log-In here
