From “Family History of the Joseph Taylor, Jr. and Sarah Best Family”
By Shari H. Franke

Rhodah, daughter of Joseph Best Taylor and Polly Ann Hudnall, was born 30 September 1826, near Richardsville, Warren, Kentucky. Named for her maternal grandmother, she married 28 January 1846, Gideon Floyd, at Warren County, Kentucky. (This date comes from the Family Bible record. Warren County Marriage record indicates it was 26 January.) Joseph Best Taylor, her father, gave his consent in person. James Wesley Taylor, her brother, was bondsman.

This family apparently stayed in Warren County. Rhodah was the mother of ten sons and daughters. She died in 1886.

Gideon Floyd was born in 1822 at Warren County, Kentucky, the son of Enoch Floyd and Susan Lee. Enoch Floyd owned much land in Warren and Edmonson Counties and had been a Warren County Justice of the Peace (Magistrate). Gideon’s death date is unknown.

Gideon Floyd and Rhodah Chastain Taylor’s children were: Sarah Frances, Melvin B., Polly Ann, Nancy, Angenicia, Pitt, Richard, Enoch, Thomas and Sallie Floyd.
