Fay was born 4 Nov 1925 in Richmond, Utah to Leland and Eunice Eliza Thomson Durney. Her father died when she was a year old and her mother died three months later, leaving Fay and her six week old little sister Marvalee. Her maternal grandparents Joseph Richard and Ella Jane Shepard Thomson raised the girls on their farm in Richmond. Fay married Thiel Nathaniel Johnson in the Logan Utah LDS Temple 7 June 1948. He passed away 10 Sep 1979. Fay returned to college after her children were born and graduated from Weber State College.
She taught school in the Davis School District for 22 years, retiring in 1987. She worked in the Ogden Temple and taught the Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class for 12 years. Fay passed away 6 May 2000 at Columbia Ogden Regional Hospital in Ogden Utah. Fay was survived by four children, 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Kevin Durney Johnson and Jay Kim Johnson preceded her in death. Burial was 12 May 2000 in Beaverdam Cemetery, Collinston, Utah. Fay was a great-granddaughter of Justin Shepard & Eliza Marie Allred (daughter of Isaac Allred & Julia Ann Taylor).
