COMMENTS:
I (Betty Hanson) began to read the old newspapers when Stan Stanford and I had a question as to where we could find some proof that Roy (or Grandpa) owned the first Ford dealership in town. Both of our parents had told us such. We thought by reading the newspaper we would be able to find an ad that would offer some proof. However, I have found none thus far by reading from Jan 1916 to July 1922 in the Milton, Eagle. I now know they did not have the first dealership in Milton. However, there is some indication that this might not be true for Freewater. I seem to remember that my Mom told me when the church was having rummage sales (1960’s) that Roy owned a livery stable that was located right over there (she pointed). This was on Main Street in Freewater – on the south east corner of 7th Avenue. At the time I didn’t pay much attention. Dumb Me!!!
