From “Family History of the Joseph Taylor, Jr. and Sarah Best Family”

Douglas Taylor was born ca. 1863, probably at Little Reedy Creek, (Taylor Port), Butler, Kentucky.
Douglas left his home in Howell County, Missouri when he was 14 years old, according to information provided by Ted Taylor. It was a Sunday morning and he didn’t want to go to church with the family, so James Wesley sent him to the pasture to bring the horses in. That is when he left, working his way to Van Horn, Texas.
Fred Taylor, one of the younger sons of James Wesley, related that 31 years later Douglas showed up at his father’s house and said “Dad, I never did find those horses!” If this information is correct, Douglas Taylor went to Van Horn, Culberson County, Texas about 1877. (Culberson County was El Paso County at that time.) According to Alma, James Newton Taylor visited his brother at Van Horn and said he had a sizable spread. Nothing more is known about Douglas.
